ThermTec Cyclone 625 thermal imaging camera
ThermTec Cyclone 625
The Cyclone 625 is a compact handheld thermal imaging device from ThermTec. Inside, a 640×512 sensor with a NETD of less than 20 mK ensures a steady and clear image, even in humid air and twilight. The 25mm lens with an F1.0 aperture provides an exceptionally wide field of view of 30,8 m at 100 m , complemented by a 0,39-inch AMOLED display with 1024×768 pixels. The housing weighs just 261 grams without the battery and is IP67- rated for protection against rain and dust. The Cyclone 625 is powered by a replaceable 18650 battery with approximately 8 hours of runtime per charge. This allows the device to fit in any jacket pocket and be ready for use in seconds – a handheld device for quick access while stalking game.

The Cyclone 625 automatically estimates the distance to the target in the image. The AI learns with each use. There's no physical laser here, but it provides a reliable reference point for quick target acquisition.
Three modes adapt to the situation. The forest mode highlights branches and obstacles in the line of fire. The aiming mode filters out background noise and clearly shows the heat source. The target outline mode draws a sharp outline around the game – a clear advantage, especially in hot summer hunting areas.
640×512 sensor with less than 20 mK NETD – stable images in wet conditions and twilight
The Cyclone 625 uses a VOx sensor with a resolution of 640×512 pixels. The pixel pitch of 12 µm ensures fine detail and precise target identification. With a NETD of less than 20 mK, contours remain clearly visible even in rain and fog. The 50 Hz frame rate displays movement in the field smoothly. The AMOLED display provides a sharp and high-contrast image.
25mm lens with a 30,8m field of view at 100m – the overview during stalking
The 25mm lens with aperture F1.0 It opens up a wide field of vision. You can see over a distance of 100 meters. 30,8 by 24,6 metersThis helps if a group of animals spreads out or Wild The viewfinder switches to the side. The optical magnification is 1,4x, and the digital zoom reaches up to four times. For eyeglass wearers, the diopter adjustment of ±5 dpt ensures a sharp image even without glasses.
The wide field of view makes the Cyclone 625 the ideal companion for stalking in woodland and mixed hunting areas. Those who primarily observe from a hunting stand at very long distances beyond 300 meters are better off choosing a handheld device with a 35 mm or 50 mm focal length.
Ready to start in 3 seconds – replaceable battery for long sessions
The Cyclone 625 is available after only three seconds Ready for use. The keys operate silently, which isn't a problem. Wild No. About the ThermTec-OutdoorThe app uses the smartphone as a second screen, for example when mounted on a tripod. Recordings with sound can be downloaded directly in the field. The replaceable 18650 battery provides approximately eight hours of runtime – with a second battery in tow, long nights in the field are no problem.
The Cyclone 625 estimates distances using AI in the image, not with a laser. For those who need a classic laser rangefinder for a final safety check before shooting, we offer handheld devices with a true laser rangefinder.
My conclusion on the Cyclone 625
I was sitting in a hunting blind at the edge of a field, right next to me a dense thicket with a short feeding station. A deer slowly approached, still half-hidden by the branches. With the 640×512 sensor The identification was nevertheless immediately clear – contours and head shape were clearly recognizable, no guesswork in case of doubt.
Dense fog lay over the feeding station, yet the image quality remained surprisingly good – no streaks, no muddy outlines. I was particularly impressed by the... Field of view of 24,6 m at 100 m . Wild The camera was already in the picture early on, long before it reached the feeding site – no hectic panning.
There are a few criticisms: The digital zoom up to 4x appears noticeably grainy at very long distances. And those who prefer a true laser distance measurement in the final meters before shooting will have to make do with AI distance estimation – a physical laser is missing.
For me, the Cyclone 625 remains a powerful device for stand hunting and short feeding stations in thickets. Anyone who wants a clear image at close range will get a reliable picture here.

Feel free to contact us for advice regarding ThermTec Cyclone devices or other series and gain a practical overview.

I am a hunter. When you come to me, you won't be talking to a salesperson – but to someone who actually uses the equipment in the field.
There's a raised platform right next to the sales area. Take a seat, grab the device – and look out. That's how you'll see how it really counts.
I will take my time for you. Therefore, I kindly ask you to make a brief appointment beforehand.
Yours sincerely, Jens Dewenter Venari Hunting, Rastede
