Who is the Cyclone 315 suitable for?
Sensor and image quality – 384×288 pixels with strong contrast
The sensor in the Cyclone 315 operates with a NETD value below 20 mK . This allows the device to clearly display even subtle temperature differences. You can clearly see even thin contours such as ears or legs. The image remains steady and high-contrast in fog and humid air. The AMOLED display further enhances image quality with rich colors and high brightness.
Optics and range – 30,7 m field of view at 100 meters
The 15mm lens gives the Cyclone 315 a very wide field of view. When stalking game in the woods, you can see the entire area in front of you. At a baiting site, use a simple trick: hold the Cyclone 315 vertically. This allows you to pan from a distance to directly under the hunting stand with a single movement. The detection range is 750 meters.
The lens can be focused manually. In the price range around 800 euros, most devices have not yet had an adjustable focus point. The Cyclone 315 is a clear exception here.
The wide field of view is particularly suitable for forest edges and feeding areas. For very large open fields, a model with a longer focal length is recommended.
Battery and robustness – 10 hours of runtime in the field
The interchangeable battery in the Cyclone 315 lasts up to 10 hours . A second battery and a charger are included with the device, ensuring you never run out of power while stalking game. The IP67 protection rating keeps the device reliably waterproof in the rain. Even after a wet night in the field, the Cyclone 315 functions perfectly.
Operation and additional functions – app control and tracking
The Cyclone 315 connects to the app via a hotspot, allowing you to conveniently control the device from your smartphone. The heat-tracking function automatically marks heat sources and captures them in the image. The buttons on the housing are easily accessible, allowing you to operate the Cyclone 315 safely and without looking, even in complete darkness.
The Cyclone 315 does not come with a carrying strap. We recommend using your own screw-in mounting bracket. This will prevent it from falling in the dark and ensure you always grip the device correctly.
The Cyclone 315 measures distances using AI size comparison, not a laser rangefinder. With a clear line of sight, the system delivers reliable readings. However, in dense vegetation or partially obscured areas, the results may be inaccurate. Wild For maximum shooting safety, we also recommend a laser rangefinder.
My conclusion on the Cyclone 315
I tested the Cyclone 315 myself at the baiting site. The 15mm lens provides a wide field of view of approximately 30 meters at 100 meters . In dense forest and at close range, this is a real advantage. I was able to keep the entire area in front of my hunting stand in view without having to constantly pan.
For mixed hunting areas with field sections and greater distances, I would recommend a device with 35mm optics , e.g. the new ThermTec Cyclops 335 L 3.0.
What particularly impressed me about the Cyclone 315 is its extreme compactness and the fact that the lens is already focusable . This isn't a given. Devices in the €800 price range usually didn't have an adjustable focus point. This is precisely what makes the Cyclone 315, in my opinion, a true baiting and woodland hunting device with excellent value for money.
