New features in the Vista S50R
The rangefinder is integrated directly into the lens, eliminating the need for an additional bulky component on the housing. The device remains slim and comfortable to hold. It offers a measurement range of up to 1200 meters . The laser operates in protection class 1.
The Vision+ system controls the 1,03-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 2560 pixels. Seven color palettes are available. The green mode is reminiscent of classic night vision tubes and is easier on the eyes. The Pure Vision mode provides an additional clear, steady image.
Sensor with 1280 × 1024 pixels – crystal-clear image response
The sensor in the Vista S50R has a resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels . The pixel pitch is 12 µm . Sensitivity reaches a value of ≤ 15 mK NETD . This allows you to detect even the slightest temperature differences, even in fog and rain. The R+ image algorithm further enhances contrast and detail. Fur texture and ear position are clearly visible on the display, making precise identification significantly easier. According to the manufacturer, the detection range is 2600 meters , measured against a target of 1,7 × 0,5 m.
50mm lens with F0.9 – more light in the image
The front lens measures 50 mm with an aperture of f/0.9 . This aperture gathers noticeably more light than a typical f/1.0 lens, resulting in a brighter and clearer image. The field of view is approximately 31 meters at a distance of 100 meters , corresponding to 17,5° × 14,0°. The base magnification is 2x , and the zoom extends to 40x. This ensures the image remains steady even when the subject is moving. The exit pupil measures 8 mm , and the eye relief is 25 mm, allowing your eye to focus quickly and effortlessly.
An f/0.9 lens is physically difficult to focus precisely. You have to look very closely when focusing. A helpful trick in practice is to zoom in on the subject once, then focus. After that, the focus will remain sharp at similar distances.
Two interchangeable batteries for field use
The Vista S50R comes with two interchangeable IBP-7 batteries, each with a capacity of 4400 mAh . According to the specifications, one battery provides up to 4,5 hours of runtime at 22°C. With both batteries, you can realistically expect around 9 hours of operating time. Each battery charges directly via USB-C. A power bank in your car is perfectly sufficient for recharging. Even at -20°C, the batteries still deliver 90% of their capacity . A cold winter hunt won't easily disturb the camera. The NOCPIX VISTA S50R is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful handheld thermal imaging devices on the market. The sensor has a resolution of 1.280 x 760 pixels. The image remains detailed even when zoomed in, making it ideal for long distances and areas with large fields.
I particularly like the focusing ring. It's wide, so I can grip it securely even with gloves on. This allows for precise focus adjustment, which is a real advantage, especially in twilight.
The integrated laser rangefinder delivers reliable readings up to 1.200 meters. This ensures you always know the exact distance to the game, promoting safety and ethical hunting practices.
