New to the Thunder 3.0th Generation
Older thermal imaging devices calibrate the sensor regularly. During calibration, the image freezes briefly. This often happens just as the wild boar emerges from its feeding area. The HIKmicro Shutterless Image System (HSIS) calibrates the sensor in the background. The image continues uninterrupted. No clicking, no blackout – no lost moment on the stalk.
The NETD value Specifies how small a temperature difference can be. The sensor must still be able to detect this difference. The previous model worked with <20 mKThe TQ50c 3.0 now reaches <15 mK. Battery life and robustness – ready for any mission
The package includes two spare batteries . Each battery lasts for at least 6 hours . When the first one is depleted, the second one automatically takes over – without any waiting time. Alternatively, the TQ50c 3.0 can be powered via USB-C using a power bank . The magnesium housing is IP67 certified : dustproof and waterproof up to a depth of 1 meter. The TQ50c 3.0 is recoil-proof up to 8.000 joules . Even powerful calibers pose no problem for the TQ50c 3.0. The device weighs 500 g including the battery – well-balanced on the riflescope.
My conclusion on Thunder TQ50c 3.0
The HIKmicro Thunder The TQ50c 3.0 is my recommendation for anyone who also wants to... open areas and in the field area out and about. The 50mm lens captures enough image even at 200 meters to clearly identify a target. The OLED display is impressively clear on such a small screen. And the shutterless system – no more freezing at the wrong moment. That might sound like a small detail, but it's worth its weight in gold in the field.
What really convinced me was the automatic recording feature. I still vividly remember one night when, after firing a shot, I wasn't sure where I'd hit. With the TQ50c, that wouldn't have been a problem – simply play back the video, check the point of impact, and you're done. That provides a sense of peace that's invaluable in the dark.
My only advice: Anyone who regularly changes hunting grounds or hunts a lot in open terrain should seriously consider the version with a laser rangefinder . Distances can be deceiving in thermal imaging more quickly than you'd think – and a clean shot starts with the correct distance.
